Lorraine Hariton recently left her post as Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs at the US Department of State.  Appointed to this position by Secretary Hillary Clinton in 2009, Lorraine was responsible for outreach to the business community and led efforts in global entrepreneurship, innovation and international women’s business leadership.

Prior to her role at the State Department, Lorraine was CEO for two startup companies, where she raised nearly $50 million in venture capital and brought new products to market. Formerly she was a sales and marketing executive at IBM and served as the Chair of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs and Executives.

Lorraine has an MBA from Harvard and a BS in Mathematical Sciences from Stanford. She has two grown children. She enjoys cycling, the outdoors and international travel.
