Some of the amazing things that are being proposed on the environmental front in Washington, DC and other aspects of environmental law and policy.
Debbie Sivas is Director of the Earthjustice Environmental Law Clinic at Stanford Law School. She teaches and supervises about a dozen law students and manages a four-person law office practicing public interest conservation law (i.e. protecting natural places and species).
Prior to this, since graduation from Stanford Law School, her career has been busy and varied. It includes working as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court, attorney in an environmental firm, legal director for The Lands Council, attorney for the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, and partner in the Conservation Law Project. She founded two non-profit organizations and a legal program for an existing non-profit, ran her own law practice for a few years, prepares manuscripts for environmental law practice guides, and is president of a children’s environmental health non-profit that sued all the big tobacco companies over their cover-up of the public health risks from secondhand smoke.
