Symbols for Transformation, Innovation and Wicked-Problem Solving

February 22, 2018 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am PST

Free

Words often fail us when we are dealing with major challenges: how to change, how to think in new ways, and how to solve seemingly impossible problems. That’s when symbols can help us find a new lens and tell a new story. Eileen Clegg is a visual journalist and founder of Visual Insight, working with top leadership for Fortune 500 companies and great nonprofits to facilitate transformative meetings.

She also is book author, whose first career was as a newspaper reporter. Her passion is harnessing the power of visuals to solve wicked problems. Her current nonprofit project is the Women Inventors and Innovators Mural, aimed at uncovering the drivers of and solutions to the gender gap. Eileen has a BA in Philosophy from UC Berkeley and MA in Jungian Psychology from Sonoma State University.

Eileen will talk about how visuals work to help groups come to new insights and alignment, enabling them to work together toward solutions. She will share what’s behind transformative visuals—the ancient language of shape and symbols that speak to us on a deep human level beyond words.

She also will invite to us help generate ideas and images for an emerging model to help find solutions to the gender gap (inspired by Abraham Maslow) Hierarchy of Needs for Women and the World
