Evelyn’s group of five top-class reporters and columnists specializes in chronicling the societal changes caused by the technological and economic revolutions the Valley has been experiencing. They call themselves “real-time anthropologists”. Evelyn’s amazing career includes stints at the Mercury News as first editor of the Computing section and later as technology editor, at Stanford as Knight Fellow 1986-1987, at the Washington Post as national technology writer from 1988-1991, where she wrote a major series on software flaws and contributed to coverage of the Gulf War, and at Nikkei Shimbun in Japan from 1992-1996. In 1992 she worked with Bob Waterman on a book about successes in business. Evelyn rejoined the Mercury in late 1996 and has been an assistant business editor most of that time.
