Jan Pendleton has published more than thirty short stories in literary journals such as The New England Review, The Antioch Review, The Quarterly, Quarterly West, Story Quarterly, Noon, and a reprint in Brown University’s Impossible Object.

She won a Phelan Award in poetry, made it through the final rounds at the Nelson Algren fiction competition, and was offered a contract for a short-story collection at Alfred Knopf, which fell through when her editor left. She is the shortest (both in height and time attended) alumna from Bennington, where she completed one hour toward a Master of Fine Art’s Degree.

Jan will be reading her newest publication, “Irises for Iris,” a story about a middle-aged woman who becomes the embodiment of her mother’s desire.
