Maurene Viele is a retired physician who specialized in blood bank management, transfusion services, clinical laboratory medicine and pathology. She spent most of her career at UCSF and Stanford University. From the start, Maurene was recognized for her teaching skills, receiving Residents’ Awards for Excellence in Teaching at both UCSF and Stanford’s Medical School. Beginning in 2003, Maurene began a new type of teaching when she became a docent at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, where she continues to lead tours today.
