An Improviser’s Approach to Marketing, Life and Everything in Between

July 25, 2013 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am PDT

The cornerstone of building great scenes in improvisation is, “Yes, and.” This concept means embracing and adding onto others’ suggestions (offers), so that we can create something better together. This simple phrase is also a powerful philosophy for life. What exactly can improvisation teach people about marketing, creativity and risk-taking (read: failing and learning!)? It turns out a hell of a lot.

Join Kathy Klotz-Guest as she talks about the life of an improviser, shares the invaluable life lessons she’s gleaned, and provides a number of funny anecdotes from her stage experience.

Kathy Klotz-Guest (MA, MBA) is an improviser, storyteller and marketer; and founder of San Jose-based marketing and communications firm, Keeping it Human. Kathy helps organizations cut through clutter to tell their best stories to the world in human-speak, a language that customers (you know, people) trust. When she’s not eradicating the world of jargon-monoxide poisoning, Kathy blogs, runs a marketing podcast on blogtalkradio.com, and teaches marketing and innovation courses at Stanford and Berkeley. She and her improvisation partners-in-crime play regularly for ComedySportz on Sundays. Her favorite audience member of all is her little dude, Evan (who she can still make giggle and snort simultaneously).
